Captain Joseph G. Best's Company I Company I of the Twenty-first Infantry Missouri Vols., enrolled under the call of the President for Volunteers, to enter the service of the United States, which said Company was mustered into service at Canton, Lewis County State of Missouri, the First day of February 1862 for the period of three years or during the war. Captain Joseph G. Best - July 22, 1862: Promoted Major May 30, 1865.
Captain Jeremiah Hamilton - July 6, 1865.
1st Lt. Joseph Oliver - March 27, 1862: Resigned June 12, 1862.
1st Lt. Joseph G. Best - June 18, 1862; Promoted Captain.
1st Lt. Geo. W. Steom - January 5, 1863: Mustered out Dec. 5, 1864 Exp term of service.
1st. Lt. Jeremiah Hamilton - December 17, 1864: Promoted Captain.
1st Lt. Henry Deems - July 6, 1865.
2d Lt. Hudson Rice - March 27, 1862: Resigned July 22, 1862.
2d Lt. Geo. W. Stine - August 2, 1862: Promoted 1st Lieutenant.
2d Lt. Cyrenus Russel - January 5, 1863: mustered out Feb. 3, 1865 exp. term of service.
2d Lt. William H. Smith - September 30, 1865.
