Henry McGonigle
Co. D, 21st Regiment, Missouri Volunteer Infantry
 

Henry McGonigle was born in 1833 in Adams Co., Pennsylvania, son of John and Margery McGonigle who emigrated from Ireland in 1831. The family moved to Edina, Knox, Co, MO in 1843. Henry served in the 21st Missouri Regiment and was acting commander of Company D, which saw first action at Shiloh, making first contact with the CSA. He died 21 Aug., 1881 in Edina and is buried in the old cemetery at St. Joseph's Church.
